Silent Sky (2020)

Another show I was cast in and designed for. Silent Sky (By Lauren Gunderson is the story of Henrietta Leavitt, the female astronomer who discovered groundbreaking evidence that the universe expands far beyond our own milky way galaxy.

 

She paved the way for women in astronomy and set a standard for how we measure stars and explore the vastness of the universe. Set during the 1910’s, the poster is inspired from the elegant Art Nouveau style popular at the time as well as the mathematical sophistication of star charts. Heaven and earth are major themes in the show as well, so I modeled the general layout after a pane glass church window.

 

The Image I wanted to stand out the most was the constellation of Henrietta Leavitt in the stars. At the end of the day it is a story not just about her but women in general. I will forever be grateful for the time and work put into this show.
